STEAM-POWERED Annual Fundraiser Features Speaker, Author ERIN JONES
Sep 27, 2021
The Spokane Public Schools Foundation Board has announced its annual STEAM-Powered major fundraiser will be virtual again this year due to another significant increase in coronavirus infections in the region.
“This year the Foundation has provided assistance to SPS for its COVID-19 needs for students and families,” said Katie Scofield, SPSF Foundation Board President, “and we have awarded grants totaling over $400,000 to meet the needs of our public school children and their educators.
“We cannot provide these opportunities for SPS students involved in the STEAM education and other programs of the District without your support, for which the Foundation is very grateful,” Scofield said. ” We are excited about the return partnership with BrickWest Brewing who will be providing their delicious Burgers and Beer again for this year’s event!
Recognized by the White House as a “Champion of Change”, the Foundation is excited to welcome awarding-winning former classroom educator, instructional coach and speaker Erin Jones as its keynote speaker. Erin received the Most Innovative Foreign Language Teacher award in 2007, while teaching in Tacoma, and was the Washington State Milken Educator of the Year while teaching at Rogers High School in Spokane. She received the Washington State PTA’s “Outstanding Educator” in 2015. After stints in the state’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for two different state superintendents, Erin very narrowly lost a race for the state superintendent position.
She has logged thousands of hours in schools around Washington and she chose to speak and train from her unique personal view on issues of race and equity before schools, government agencies, non-profits and others.
The STEAM-Powered fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, October 28, 2021, and will again be virtual, produced by the award-winning Don Hamilton Studios. The event is a major fundraiser for the Spokane Public Schools Foundation (SPSF) for its classrooms and schools grants program.
SPSF is excited about the return partnership with BrickWest Brewing who again will be providing their delicious Burgers and Beer for this year’s event.
Tickets are available for the price of $55 here. Be ready for some great auction items to bid on and to help us raise the funds SPSF needs to support our students.
